Well, Happy New Year, only about a month late.
As usual, a new year means a new Christmas story, but before we get to that, some old ones.
First of all, last year's story: 'Last Christmas Hexwood'. Personally, I'm really proud of that story. I felt it hit the notes that I wanted to hit: pretty cosy and whimsical, but with some undertones of something a little darker, especially in those bits where it almost seemed possible that Reynard might eat his best friend Buck.
Of course, it wasn't possible, because, as I reminded my mother when she was worrying about it, it was a Christmas story and things like that don't happen in Christmas stories. On the other hand, I apparently had the effect I was hoping to, as hers wasn't the only worried message I had.
But I also had some very congratulatory messages from people who enjoyed the story, and it performed the best of any of the stories so far. The two busiest days were December 23rd and 24th, as usual, the days when everyone is cooking and wrapping and looking for something cosy and Christmassy to listen to. We had over 1,000 downloads on both days, reaching over 1,300 on the 23rd, and that's just the podcast, not counting YouTube or Substack (or, I think Spotify, but the numbers aren't clear there).
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it too.
But that's not the only old story.
